Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join an agile and high performing multi-disciplinary team within a United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) test facility delivering mission critical test and evaluation of defence related products.

As part of this team, you will develop the necessary skills to simulate some of the most challenging environments in the world to ensure that the systems are ultimately safe and suitable for service.

The successful candidate will work within the planning team at the Environmental Test Centre (ETC) at MoD Shoeburyness.  This role requires pulling all the elements of the planning activities together and ensuring critical milestones are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Project manager and Technical Lead creating schedules for new programmes of work
  • Support the Technical Lead taking all trials through the Hazardous Activity Management (HAM) process including the creation of safety paperwork such as Hazardous activity risk assessments, safety briefs, handling and transport plans.
  • Produce the trials safety certificate ensuring it is authorised by the required people prior to testing
  • Manage the design and manufacture of any rigs required for the programme of work, ensuring rigs are delivered before testing is due to start.
  • All customer owned assets and equipment must be managed in accordance with the relevant corporate instruction
  • Manage and host customer visits. This includes requesting and reviewing the relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and competencies before attending site.
  • Produce a Trials Instruction detailing the tests required in accordance with customer requirements
  • Manage any trial deviations or occurrence in accordance with ETC quality procedures
  • Produce a trials report on completion of a test activity
  • Working with the delivery engineers to resolve day to day trial issues to ensure projects are delivered on time with any issues escalated to the technical lead
  • Daily updating of the range control page to managing ammunition safety distances across ETC
  • Ensuring ammunition is moved around site safely and is delivered in time for testing to commence

Experience & Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or higher or an equivalent level gained through experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent risk-based qualification
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills
  • High level of IT competence
  • Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and 9001
  • Must have driving licence and own vehicle
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain government security clearance
