Programme Manager – Portsmouth, Hampshire – Salary £55,000 to £65,000.

Thomas Search Ltd is a specialist recruitment consultancy for the Built Environment, Defence & Aerospace Industries.

Our client is a leading defence contractor providing key solutions to maritime weapon systems. These projects range from in-house development through to procurement of solutions.

Accountabilities:

• Provide leadership to a team of multi-disciplined project managers and highly technical system/software engineers.
• Meeting contractual obligations
• Achieving excellent customer satisfaction
• Delivery of projects to time, cost and quality
• Production of open, accurate and timely financial and workload forecasts to support planning within the business
• Ability to network, building relationships to enable successful engagement with a broad range of stakeholders (external and internal) often with competing interests
• Management of subcontracts, some with significant development work
• Application of appropriate project governance in-line with business operating framework
• Support the business to develop future pipeline work
• Promotion of best practice within the projects and ensure that previous lessons learnt are adopted and new lessons identified for future benefit
• Develop any appropriate follow on work

Qualifications & Experience:

• Project Management qualification or equivalent
• Previous demonstrable experience of delivering Programmes within the Maritime domain
• Proven ability to decompose complex issues, to an appropriate level of detail, in a methodical manner
• Experience of procurement and tendering processes (e.g. the production of specifications, definition of supplier selection criteria and contracting) and management of suppliers under contract
• Experience of systems and software engineering disciplines and lifecycle to develop complex products in the defence domain

Desirable:

• An understanding of the wider Maritime Defence, in particular Test & Evaluation
• Knowledge of: Information Management Systems / Electronic warfare test systems / Sonobouy test systems / Electromagnetic test and analysis systems / Acoustic signature measurement systems / Radar Cross Section measurement systems.
