Our client is a leading provider of advanced technology across the UK defence sector.

This role is involved with systems directly relating to vehicles, soldiers and the equipment used. Working with the customer and stakeholders to shape and capture opportunities and to agree the requirement and the delivery approach.

The role will lead projects and technical teams, working with project management, and have a hands-on contribution to the delivery.
You will be hands-on throughout every stage of the project, delivering solutions alone if appropriate, and leading teams for larger projects, co-ordinating the high-level engineering activities of diverse systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Professional Engineering Qualification (e.g., CEng / MSc / BSc) or HND plus experience
• Membership of appropriate/relevant professional body, e.g., INCOSE / IMechE / IET
• Extensive engineering delivery experience
• A track record of end-end hands-on engineering leadership of technical solution delivery.
• An interest in integrated, distributed, networked data systems and embedded electronic systems communicating and managing data and information in vehicles, on soldiers – both between these platforms and also across the battlespace, connecting these platforms within broad capabilities, such as LETacCIS, C4ISTAR and CEMA, and exploiting localised capabilities, such as nUAS and Robotic Autonomous Systems.
• An appreciation of what the soldier needs in terms of situational awareness and communication both when mounted and when dismounted.
• Ability to apply systems engineering principles to the whole project lifecycle, decomposing complex issues to appropriate levels of detail to then produce effective solutions
• Able to work face to face with customers and act as customer technical point of contact, working through the whole project lifecycle and refining system design and behaviour in delivery to meet evolving customer needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to build trust and respect at different levels
• Able to lead diverse technical teams, with the Project Manager, providing clear direction to ensure alignment and effective collaboration
